Ok, I still don't have some fun quip about life, or what this blog is about to put here. Someday - perhaps tomorrow perhaps two years from tomorrow - I will figure it out. Until then, see my randomness below.

Lughnasadh

It seems that many of us are faced with different alone issues lately. Some of us feel that we are most alone when we are amongst others, others who are supposed to love us and take care of us. Others of us are moving on from long relationships, good and bad. And yet other members of our flock are trying to cope with the alone that comes from not living with a full nest. All of us have at one point or another had that "I don't know if I can be loved the way I want to be loved" look in our eyes. So what are we to do?

We need to learn to love ourselves, be proud of who we are, to not be afraid to admit our faults to others. Accept ourselves, before we can truly ask anyone else to provide the compassion we feel we are missing. In my short time spent learning about myself, one of the most profound lessons has always been that for someone else to find any quality in me, I first have to see it in myself.

To me it is no coincidence that today is the Lunghnasadh festival to celts the world over. Traditionally this festival was celebrated by a grand gathering of the people to symbolize the first harvest of the year. The first fruits and vegetables to be harvested would be sacrificed so that future harvests, as well as this, would be well watched over by the God/Goddess. Many who still keep this tradition honor the holiday as much alone as they do with others.

Here is my vision for each of us, today, tomorrow and for the following week. (This festival's eve was marked by a full moon this year, so, yes I mean a week.) Spend time with one another. This is a festival for getting together with friends and enjoying their company. Before long the days will be shorter, we will all be in school, and the winter will be upon us. Also, spend time alone, for the sake of being alone. Ask yourself what it is in YOU that needs harvesting. Is there anything that you can sacrifice of this harvest to further growth in your own spirit? Think about the gatherings you are having, or had recently; class reunions, meetings with old flames, meetings with new flames. How do they represent your place in your tribe, their tribe, the tribe of humankind?

Most importantly, if you never do anything due to it's significance on this blog, SMILE! These words have been set down in the spirit of a true and pure love of you, my brothers and sisters, and I want anyone who reads them to take that love and spread it. SMILE, because you are YOU!
